 how about locals? It is said that there was a time that girls looked as Jorba… well not anymore. This article will explain why Rethymno is visited from many local cretans during winter and not only in summer.
The quality got better over the years, and it is natural. More influenced from the outside world and the city growth made the young women care more about their looks! Today many attend the local gyms, eat better and use more cosmetic products. If you open a shop be sure you'll make money. The 80% of the clothes shop are for women, including shoes. They are as many as the jewelery shops! Not to forget the accessories shops. The statistics talk clear. The sales of g-strings and wonderbras increased dramatically. The same increase, almost, was estimated by pharmacies...on condom sales.
For a small town of almost 40000 people having 3-4 official strip bars is much I would say. There are others not so officials so who knows how many really are. Inside you can find the best of what central and east europe can offer. That’s one reason why at weekend, even in winter, Rethymno becomes the Mecca for some people.
Another more "legal" reason is the local university. Yes, you read well. The university of crete is divided in the 3 major cities. When in Chania and Heraklion you can find the faculties of medicine, engineer and similar, in Rethymno you find philosophy, economy, education, archaeology, psychology...all principally female attended. So if the students population is almost 10000 just imagine the percentage! It is true that Rethymno is full of small cafe shops and tavernas. So imagine entering one of them and finding the 90% of the customers....girls! That’s why Rethymno became the favourite place to have a cup of coffee surrounded by girls.
Another reason is the summer tourist population. Rethymno is principally visited by german and skandinavian girls. Some dutch and danish too that knows as well how to heat the atmosphere. The most typical scene is: complete drunk girls being taken back home from their just met blue prince! But not only drunk. You just have to check the local clubs and see the new arrivals. They also in search of a blue prince and maybe not just one. That means they are coming to have fun too...and the succeed! The same happens in the long beach. Ideal place to meet and have an introduction talk before giving appointment for the evening club testing! Did you know that topples is permitted in Rethymno? Haven't you still made up your mind? Hurry and book at least one night there. You won't be disappointed!
